Clean install:

The current release requires the following prerequisites:

  •  Please read the Quick Setup Guide before you run the install routine.
  • SQL Express (2008 R2 or later installed as the default '.\SQLExpress' instance.)
  • Microsoft .Net Framework 4.8 (Ensure ALL Windows updates have been applied)
  • *Optional* If you would like to use the reporting function you will need the Crystal Reports .Net Runtime (get the correct 64bit version here)

Upgrading\Updating from a previous version:

Upgrading from a previous version is normally completely seamless and you will keep all your jobs and settings from the previous version:

  • Ensure sure there are no jobs running.
  • Uninstall the currently installed version, answering 'Yes' when asked if you would like to keep the existing configuration database.
  • If you can we advise rebooting the machine at this point.
  • Finally, install the new version.

Sample files:

Sometimes finding a set of files to test with can be difficult. It is tempting to copy files from anywhere, often from somewhere in the Program Files folder. The trouble with these files is that they won't look anything like the files you would normally find in an actual network share and all of the timestamps will be out. To address this problem we have provided a set of sample files. This is the same file set we test within our development environment and it includes all of the quirks we have seen over the years, things like file names with mixed character sets, and files with no extensions.

You can obtain a copy of these files from here: https://www.ArchiverFS.Net/downloads/archiverfs/TestTemplate.zip  (164MB)

When you copy them to your network share for testing we also recommend setting your local computer clock back a couple of years to ensure all of the timestamps are suitably aged.
